Plot/Intro:
Peace has reigned over the forest for many, many moons, longer than most cats have ever known it to. Not even a simple borderline skirmish or a harsh word at the Gathering has passed between the Clans. The leafbare is mild and the prey, though skinny, is plentiful. It seems like the peace will go on forever…until Ghostkit comes along.
A run-away from MountainClan--an evil, faraway Clan--Ghostkit is pushed along by the desire to start again and have a good life in a new Clan. PhantomClan, the warrior ancestors of all black-hearted cats, has another plan for him, however. When he is accepted as an apprentice of RainClan, Ghostkit will learn to fight, hunt, and gain strength and courage. Only when he is halfway to becoming a warrior will the evil spirits of the PhantomClan cats come to possess him, telling him that if he obeyed them he would soon rule the entire forest and reign over all the cats in all the Clans. But first he must complete his training…then he will go out and gain followers from the loners, rogues, and any Clan cats that wish to join him. And every time he triumphs, PhantomClan grows stronger, while StarClan’s power begins to fade.
And RainClan will take the blame.
Believing that RainClan failed them all by not teaching Ghostkit the way of StarClan and the Warrior Code, all three other Clans will turn on them. It will take one RainClan warrior to prove to all the others that RainClan is not to blame, and even then tension will remain. They must look past their anger, however, for the fate of the entire forest rests on their paws.
Up in the sky, a battle between StarClan and PhantomClan rages; thunder shakes the forest, and freezing, pouring rain begins to fall. THIS IS STARCLAN’S ONE AND ONLY WARNING.
In order to save their ancestors, the cats of the forest must stop Ghostkit, whose demons give him powers that no other cat in the forest could possibly have.
